Florian Plettenberg presently confirms an incoming Bundesliga transfer rumor initially reported on by both L’Équipe and Le Parisien. The Sky journalist goes one step further than both sources, claiming that newly promoted Hamburg are set to acquire Stade Rennes centre back Warmed Omari on loan. Plettenberg notes that a potential purchase option is still being negotiated.

The 25-year-old Omari returns to Rennes from a difficult loan stint with Olympique Lyon. Omari barely featured at all for Les Gones beyond two Europa league and one cup start. Though he went the full 90 minutes in his UEL appearance, the nine-times-capped Comoros international logged just seven minutes of league action. Omari’s estimated market value continues to decline from its October 2023 €10m peak.

Omari’s value dropped by more than half from €8m to €3m in the past 12 months. A loan deal with a modest purchase option would work out well for Omari’s parent club, especially given that the player last extended his contract during his peak value and likely draws an oversized salary. Sport Bild, meanwhile, reports that Hamburg have another potential loan in the pipeline.

The German tabloid is once again reporting that Hamburg are again working on a potential loan for Tottenham’s Luka Vuskovic. The German club obviously faces plenty of competition for the €12m-valued centre back, but the player may be swayed by the manner in which Hamburg showed solidarity with his elder brother Mario during his infamous doping scandal.

It remains possible that the Hanseatic city-state side will acquire both central defenders on loan, but no other reliable German footballing media sources are corroborating the new Vuskovic rumors just yet.
