Newcastle United clashed heads with Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier tonight as they focused on securing a win on the road in the EFL Cup. The Magpies made a quick start to the contest and grabbed the lead in the 28th minute when Miguel Almiron found the back of the net. Lewis Hall scored again for the visitors just eight minutes later as Eddie Howe’s men went into the half-time interval 2-0 up on the scoreline.
Joe Willock scored in the 60th minute which killed the game off. The match ended with Newcastle earning an impressive 3-0 win away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Newcastle United player fared during the clash against the Red Devils.
GK: Martin Dubravka – 7/10
Dubravka made two solid stops at the back and secured a well-deserved clean sheet at Old Trafford.
RB Tino Livramento – 8/10
He hardly put a foot wrong in the game defensively and had some bright moments in the Man United half. Livramento ended the game with an assist to his name.
CB: Emil Krafth – 7/10
Krafth cleared the danger when needed and would be quite pleased with the clean sheet.
CB: Paul Dummett – 7/10
He put his foot through the ball when the opposition were on the offensive and did enough to keep them at bay tonight.

LB: Lewis Hall – 8/10
Hall performed his defensive duties well and managed to find the back of the net in the 36th minute.
CM: Sean Longstaff – 7/10
Longstaff offered decent protection for his teammates at the back.
CM: Matt Targett – N/A
He picked up an injury and was replaced in the 4th minute.
CM: Joe Willock – 7.5/10
Willock was already willing to have a strike at goal and deserves credit for scoring in the 60th minute.
RW: Matt Ritchie – 6.5/10
He made two key chances for others around him but there was no goal for him.
ST: Anthony Gordon – 6.5/10
Gordon worked hard but was a quiet presence in the final third.
LW: Joelinton – 7.5/10
Joelinton made some decent chances for his teammates and ended the game with an assist to his name.
Substitutes:
RW: Miguel Almiron – 8/10
Almiron scored the opening goal in the 28th minute.
CM: Bruno Guimaraes – 6.5/10
The Brazilian talent earned the ball back twice.
ST: Callum Wilson – 6/10
He failed to get his name on the scoresheet.
LB: Dan Burn – 6/10
Burn didn’t do much wrong defensively.
He made two crucial clearances inside his half.
