Half-time Report: Celtic 6-0 Hibs – Jacynta and Larisey, putting on a show | OneFootball

Where were the goals for Celtic going to come from after the news during the week that last season’s top goalscorer Charlie Wellings had joined Reading for an undisclosed fee? Welling bagged 40 goals in just 34 games for Fran Alonso’s side so in today’s SWPL1 season opener against Hibs, all eyes were on the Celtic forwards Clarissa Larisey and Jacynta to see how they’d fair.

Well the Australian answered the doubts with just 55 seconds on the clock when young Tiree Bowie burst down the right wing and the Australian star, Celtic’s current player of the year, made no mistake to give Celtic the lead.

Playing in the number 10 role she then set about dismantling a Hibs side which had no answers to her. Lisa Robertson had full control of the central midfield and new signing Lucy Ashford-Clifford had a brilliant opening 45 minutes powering down that left wing and being involved in everything. Her cross was deflected after 12 minutes to loop over the Harland in the Hibs goal to double Celtic’s advantage, Notley credited with the OG.

Gallacher set up Larisey on 25 minutes and after one or two near missed, the Canadian striker made it 3-0 to Celtic. And on 36 minutes it was 4-0 to Celtic, Jacynta with the assist and Larisey found the top corer for the goal of the half. Wonderful stuff from Fran Alonso’s side.

The double act were at it again a few minutes later but Larisey’s hat-trick attempt sailed over the bar. Ashford Clifford was a constant threat to Hibs and after some lovely buildup play the English wingback set up Jacynta for her second goal of the afternoo, making it 5-0 to Celtic with 41 minutes played.

And Jacynta got her hat-trick just before the interval and this time it was Larisey with the assist.
