Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu will miss out on this weekend’s Serie A match against Fiorentina due to injury.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 29-year-old’s groin problem will certainly miss out on Saturday’s match and that he’ll be assessed today to see how serious the injury is.

Calhanoglu had to come off the pitch as a substitute during the first half of yesterday evening’s EURO 2024 qualifying clash between Turkey and Croatia.

According to the Gazzetta it is certain that the recovery period will cause the former AC Milan midfielder to miss out on the Nerazzurri’s first match back from the international break against Fiorentina.

However, medical tests today should shed light on when exactly the Turk will be able to return to action.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will be holding his breath, with the hope naturally being that Calhanoglu can be back in time for the Champions League quarterfinal tie against Benfica, the first leg of which is two weeks away.
