They were rewarded for their dominance with the opening goal on five minutes, Chloe Webb intercepting the ball on the halfway line and finding Chloe Logie up front, who flicked the ball onto Reid who fired a strong strike into the back of the net.

As the first half progressed it was Brentford who was enjoying plenty of time on the ball, however Hackney’s defence proved a tough wall to crack.

Leading up to the 30-minute mark it was a back-and-forth affair, both sides able to put the ball into dangerous positions inside the box without finishing off the job.

Riding a wave of momentum Hackney continued to press, however Osborne’s side managed to wrestle back control and go ahead on 37 minutes thanks to a long-range goal by Worsley. The midfielder won a vital one-v-one duel and pressed on with the ball, her strike finding the back of the net.

The opening 15 minutes of the second half followed a similar path to the first half, both teams enjoying time in possession but neither able to finish off their work in the final third.

Going against a strong breeze Brentford dominated majority of possession, their link up play from defence to midfield an impressive aspect of the game.

It was Hackney who enjoyed the best looks on goal across the first half of the second 45 minutes, however didn’t test Walker in goal.
