Hachim Mastour has officially signed with Virtus Verona, the Italian third division club, on June 27, 2025. The 26-year-old leaves the Moroccan league and heads back to Italy, aiming to breathe new life into his career.
Virtus Verona confirmed the arrival of Hachim Mastour this Friday, recruiting him to strengthen their Serie C squad. "Virtus Verona is pleased to announce that it has signed Hachim Mastour to a performance contract until June 30, 2026, with an option for the following season," the Italian club stated.
This return to Italy marks a new chapter for Mastour, once seen as one of world football’s brightest prospects a decade ago. Born in Reggio Emilia, Mastour dazzled AC Milan scouts with his technical skills and precocious talent at just 14, attracting interest from Europe’s elite clubs.
Despite a promising start, Mastour was never able to establish himself at the top level. Stints with Malaga, Zwolle, and Lamia in Greece left little lasting impression in major leagues. His experiences in Serie B and C with Reggina and Carpi also failed to reignite his career trajectory.
In recent years, he left Europe to play in Morocco, representing Renaissance Zemamra and then Union Touarga, before trying his luck in Italy’s King’s League with FC Zeta Milano. Now, by joining Virtus Verona, Mastour returns to a league he already knows—Serie C—hoping to finally stabilize his career.
