Borussia Dortmund welcomed Mainz to Signal Iduna Park on Saturday and the hosts claim all three points after a 3-1 win.
Scorers: Reus 3′, Haaland 54′ (P), 90+4′; Burkardt 87′
The match got off to a quick start and the hosts took an early lead when Marco Reus smashed his strike into the net past goalkeeper Robin Zentner.
Dortmund continued to press for a second goal with Jude Bellingham and Julian brandt pulling the strings. Mainz, however, did enough to stifle any threats.
Thomas Meunier had a chance fall just short and Donyell Marten had a goal cleared off the line to keep things 1-0.
Coming out after the break, the momentum continued in favour of the hosts.
VAR called a handball against Silvan Widmer which allowed Erling Haaland to double the lead from the spot despite Zentner getting a hand to it.
Mainz then made a late push to try and get back into the game and substitute Jonathan Burkardt made things 2-1 with three minutes to go.
However, a late link-up between Bellingham and Haaland calmed any nerves to see Dortmund go top of the table while Mainz are tenth.
