Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres has said ‘we will see’ on his future amid speculation linking him with a move to Arsenal.

Gyokeres is set to leave Sporting this summer after two prolific campaigns in Portuguese football. The Swedish striker has led the Primeira Liga for goals in back-to-back campaigns, as Sporting have secured successive league titles.

Gyokeres has netted 97 goals in 102 appearances in all competitions for Sporting, including 54 goals during the 2024/25 campaign alone. Several leading sides across Europe are reportedly interested, with Sporting prepared to sell at around €65m (£54.5m).

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the 26-year-old. Mikel Arteta has made the signing of a striker his priority for the summer window.

This season, Arsenal’s leading league scorer was Kai Havertz with just nine goals. It’s the first time in 101 years that Arsenal have not had a player reach 10+ goals in a top-flight league season.

Manchester United have also been named as suitors with Ruben Amorim having worked with the player at The Estádio José Alvalade. However, Gyokeres has remained cryptic on his future plans.

Speaking after scoring a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser in Sporting’s extra-time win over Benfica in the Taça de Portugal final, Gyokeres refused to give much away.

“It’s impossible to say, we never know what happens in football,” the Sweden international said.

“Arsenal links? I don’t know anything. My focus was on the games. If the links were true then… we will see this summer.”
