Sporting moved top of Liga Portugal following a fiery win over Porto on Monday.

It’s no wonder Viktor Gyökeres continues to earn attention from clubs around Europe after he inspired the hosts to a crucial victory over one of their top rivals.

The Sweden international fought off a defender and finished at the near post before finding himself through on goal and setting up team-mate Pedro Gonçalves.

He now has 15 goals and 5 assists in 13 games this season, despite it being his debut campaign in a top-flight European league.

But Gyökeres wasn’t the only one who made headlines, as a rash decision from Portugal veteran Pepe made it a mountain to climb for the visitors.

He was shown a straight red in the second half after swinging an arm back and hitting Matheus Reis in the face, and the man advantage eventually led to Sporting’s second goal.

Looking at the table, Sporting sit one point above Benfica while Porto are third two points back.
