HLN are reporting that Gustaf Nilsson has told Union St Gilloise that he does not want to leave the club this January. There had been interest from fellow Pro League club Gent, who recently lost Gift Orban to Lyon and are looking for a new striker. However, Union have been clear that they do not want to sell anyone this winter, and Nilsson has also stated that he wants to remain with the title chasing side until January.
It is of little surprise that Gent are showing interest in the 26-year-old Swedish striker. In 18 games this season he has scored nine goals, but only 10 of those matches have been starts. Since joining Union from Wehen Wiesbaden in the summer of 2022, the tall striker has scored 19 goals in 69 games.
Gent have been active in looking for replacements for both the aforementioned Orban and Malick Fofana, who also joined the Ligue 1 side. Momodou Sonko, Franck Surdez and Daisuke Yokota have all been brought in to add some more creativity and goals to the side.
