Gunners end pre-season in style with Emirates Cup win

Arsenal wrapped up their pre-season in style, seeing off Athletic Club 3-0 at the Emirates to lift the Emirates Cup.

Viktor Gyokeres bagged his first goal in Arsenal colours, meeting a pinpoint cross from fellow new boy Martin Zubimendi and thumping a header beyond Unai Simón.

Barely two minutes later, the lead was doubled. Martin Odegaard floated a clever ball over the top for Gabriel Martinelli, who brought it down neatly before squaring to Bukayo Saka to roll home into an empty net with the keeper stranded.

The tempo eased in the second half, but Kai Havertz smashed one in late on to wrap things up, giving the Gunners the perfect send-off before next Sunday’s Premier League opener at Old Trafford against Manchester United.
