Barcelona clashed heads with Deportivo Alaves at the Mendizorrotza earlier tonight as they looked to earn a victory on their travels in La Liga. The Catalan club made a quick start to the game and got their noses ahead in the 22nd minute when Robert Lewandowski found the back of the net. Xavi’s men went into the half-time break 1-0 up on the scoreline.
Ilkay Gundogan doubled Barca’s lead in the 47th minute but Samu Omorodion got a goal back for the home team just four minutes later. Vitor Roque put daylight between the two sides in the 63rd minute before getting sent off in the 72nd minute. The contest ended with Barcelona securing an impressive 3-1 win away from home.
Let’s take a look at how each Barcelona player performed during the match against Alaves.
GK: Inaki Pena – 6/10
Pena made one good save at the back but failed to keep a clean sheet.
RB: Jules Kounde – 7/10
He performed his defensive responsibilities well and made a couple of decent runs with the ball.
CB: Ronald Araujo – 7/10
Araujo cleared the danger when he could and was a threat at the other end of the field.
CB: Pau Cubarsi – 6/10
He made two crucial clearances inside his half and was tidy with his ball distribution.

LB: Joao Cancelo – 6.5/10
Cancelo caught the eye at times in the first half and was replaced at half-time.
CM: Frenkie de Jong – 7.5/10
He was a positive influence at both ends of the pitch.
CM: Andreas Christensen – 6.5/10
Christensen anchored the midfield well and was tidy with his passing.
CM: Ilkay Gundogan – 8/10
The German talent was an influential presence in the final third and has got a goal and an assist to show for his efforts.
RW: Lamine Yamal – 7/10
He came back to defend when needed but offered very little in the final third.
ST: Robert Lewandowski – 8/10
Lewandowski was a decent performer up top and managed to score the opening goal in the 22nd minute.
LW: Pedri – 7/10
The Spaniard showed a few flashes of what he could do and ended the game with an assist to his name.
Substitutes:
LB: Hector Fort – 7/10
He picked up an assist after coming off the bench.
ST: Vitor Roque – 6/10
He managed to score in the 63rd minute but let his teammates down by getting sent off soon after.
