Guimaraes key as Newcastle seek to beat AC Milan to Botman | OneFootball

Newcastle United remain in the hunt for Lille defender Sven Botman.

Chronicle Live reports Newcastle chiefs have not completely thrown the towel in on Botman - despite growing talk that AC Milan have won the race to sign him.

Botman is on a list of centre-backs that Newcastle will push for this summer after failing to persuade him to move to the North-East in January. Back then the Dutch Under-21 international was unsure of the move as the Magpies stared the Championship in the face.

But since then a 2022 revival ensure Premier League safety for Eddie Howe and the arrival of another big hitter from Ligue 1 in Bruno Guimaraes has also shown that Newcastle do genuinely mean business. Bruno is actually proving to be somewhat of a Toon salesman after his successful switch from Lyon last January.

The midfielder has hosted fellow Brazil international Lucas Paqueta and filled him in on what life is like in Newcastle with a tour of the city. And word is spreading around Ligue 1, thanks to Bruno, that life is good in the North-East for incoming stars.
