Despite his team’s disappointing display at the World Cup in Qatar so far, Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa has attempted to inspire support from his team’s fans via social media.
Now 37, Ochoa memorably saved Robert Lewandowski’s penalty to preserve a point in Mexico’s opening draw with Poland but he was unable to prevent two moments of quality from Lionel Messi and Enzo Fernández whose goals helped Argentina to a 2-0 win over El Tri on Saturday. As a result Mexico need to beat Saudi Arabia in their final group game to have any chance of making the last 16. Ochoa, however, remains bullish, writing on Instagram:
“Compete and fight until the end… as long as there is a chance, the dream remains intact, there is still a game to play where anything can happen and it all still depends on us! It’s time to BELIEVE, this is not over yet!!”
