You can hardly blame him for not even wanting to think about his time in England.
Aside from Ali Dia, Guido Carrillo is arguably the biggest flop in the history of Southampton Football Club, with the Saints paying a then-club-record fee £19.2m for his services.
As with most of Mauricio Pellegrino’s signings, it went horribly wrong for the Argentinian, going scoreless in 10 games before being sent out on loan to Leganés six months later, never to return again.
Southampton will be desperate to recoup whatever they can for the player this summer as he enters the last year of his contract.
“I still have a year left in England, but I prefer not to think about it now,” said Carrillo.
“We have a very important objective which is to save Leganés. And we are all focused on that.
“It’s the only thing that matters to me right now.”
Relegation-threatened Leganés have previously wanted to secure a permanent deal for the striker. Clubs in his native Argentina have also been rumoured to be interested in his signature.
