Gudmundsson and Nico Gonzalez could keep Koopmeiners at Atalanta

The domino effect could be in full flow over the next few days, as Fiorentina close on Albert Gudmundsson from Genoa, can sell Nico Gonzalez to Juventus and Atalanta can keep Teun Koopmeiners.

When clubs are trying to keep a tighter grip of their finances, moves can be held up by the need to make sales first, leading to a flurry of activity once one of those situations is unblocked.

That seems to be happening now in Serie A with Fiorentina waiting for Genoa’s response on their bid for Gudmundsson.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the latest proposal was €7m for the loan plus another €18m obligation to buy at the end of the season.

It is effectively the same general figure that was offered before, €25m, the issue is just about how to spread the payment out between loan and option to buy.

A response could arrive as early as this evening and once that has been finalised, Fiorentina can then sell Nico Gonzalez.

Juventus are the absolute favourites for the Argentina international, but have been held up by trying to offer cash plus a player in exchange.

This was a problem, as Weston McKennie and Arthur Melo both want higher wages than the Viola are prepared to pay.

Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims today that there could be a shift in policy, because Juve were holding back cash to pay Atalanta for Koopmeiners.

With La Dea now less likely to sell the Dutchman following the serious injury that rules Gianluca Scamacca out for six months, Juventus can instead use those funds to buy Nico Gonzalez for €35m.
