Pep Guardiola says City will have to wait until Sunday before deciding on the fitness of Aymeric Laporte and Fernandinho for the trip to West Ham.

Both players were both substituted during the 5-1 victory at Wolves on Wednesday night.

The pair started the match in central defence with Ruben Dias and John Stones out for the rest of the season and Nathan Ake not fully fit.

That left Ake and Rodrigo in the middle of the backline at the end of the game at Molineux.

Addressing the press on Friday, Pep insisted that his remaining players will be flexible whether Laporte and Fernandinho are fit or not.

He said: "They are in treatment. It's two days.

"I think until the day of the game we will not be able to decide exactly the availability of the players.

"I have said many times we have to handle it. For one or two games the players will do their best, even not playing their position.

"Sometimes when you play in another position the concentration is higher. Like we saw against Wolves they can do it."

Our boss also reserved praise for our opponents this weekend.

West Ham currently sit in seventh place in the Premier League, having recently ended a Europa League run at the semi-final stage.

"West Ham have been extraordinary the last two seasons, not just this one," said Pep.

"They had an incredible season and are so strong in many departments. At set pieces and in the middle with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek, quality with Manuel Lanzini, Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals.

"A top side, a difficult one, but at the same time we know how important it is. Getting three points will be an incredible step to trying to finish the job."
