Guardiola says Man City ‘will accept sentence’ as hearing approaches | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola sent out a reminder that Manchester City are “innocent until proven guilty” as the club prepares to defend itself against accusations of cheating in a private hearing due to start next week.

Man City are facing 115 charges for allegedly breaking the financial rules of the Premier League, which they have won for the last four seasons running.

Those charges will be heard at an independent hearing, which is set to begin on Monday at an unknown location, subject to any late legal delays.

This case has been years in the making, but it will be months before we know the outcome. The trial is set to run for 10 weeks and a verdict expected in early 2025.

“It starts soon and then finished soon,” Guardiola said. “An independent panel will decide and I am looking forward to the decision.”

Man City have strenuously denied the charges against them. Asked if he and his players had spoken about the case, Guardiola responded: “I am not a lawyer. Erling is not a lawyer, no. There are many lawyers in this country and in Spain, but I will wait and see.

“We will accept the sentence. I know there will be more rumours and more about the [possible] sentences but we will see.

“I know what people are expecting as it’s what I’ve read for many years. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty.”

It is unknown what punishments Man City could face if they are found guilty, but the final ruling has the potential to send shockwaves throughout the Premier League and English football.
