Pep Guardiola has revealed he is a ‘big admirer of Declan Rice’ ahead of Manchester City’s clash with West Ham this weekend.

Manchester City will be looking to continue a run of 19 consecutive victories this weekend when they take on a West Ham side exceeding all expectations this season, the Hammers currently fourth and in contention to secure Champions League football.

David Moyes’ side have lost just once in their past 11 league fixtures and have won seven of nine this the turn of the new year, confidence beginning to increase around the London Stadium that the Hammers can secure continental qualification.

Guardiola admits he has been impressed by the development of this weekend’s opponents after narrowly avoiding relegation last season, praising the progress of Moyes and his side.

Guardiola also revealed he is ‘a big admirer’ of England international Rice, who has previously been linked with moves to Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea.

The 21-year-old has starred at the centre of the West Ham side this season with the academy graduate having captained the Hammers for much of the campaign.

“After I don’t know how many games, they are in a Champions League position,” Guardiola told his pre-match press conference.

“That has not happened because they have been on a good run for one month.

“They have fantastic players and I am a big admirer of Declan Rice.”
