Erling Haaland was absent from Manchester City’s training session today and Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the Norwegian will miss Thursday’s Premier League game with Brighton.
Following Arsenal’s 5-0 demolition of Chelsea, Manchester City head to the south coast needing a win to regain control of the title race- with Liverpool also looking to apply pressure in the Merseyside derby tonight.
Haaland missed the FA Cup semi-final win over Chelsea on the weekend and Guardiola confirmed today that he will be out for the Brighton game. Foden, who did play against Chelsea, was absent from training but Guardiola confirmed that the youngster, along with John Stones, could feature on Thursday.
It means City head into Thursday’s game potentially without their first and second top goal scorers this season.
Pep also mentioned that despite an injury-stricken season, City are still in contention for two trophies at the latter stages of the season.
He said: ‘The matches in previous seasons have been quite similar, when you arrive in the latter stages it is always quite similar.
‘Obviously, this season we did have the Club World Cup in Saudi Arabia. But we have had a lot of problems this year with important players being injured this season.
‘Of course, after you win the treble it can have an effect too, but we are still there.’
