Guardiola: Changes possible for Leipzig | OneFootball

Pep Guardiola says he may ring the changes for Tuesday night’s Champions League trip to RB Leipzig.

City travel to Germany with qualification to the knock-out stages already secured, thanks to our 2-1 win over Paris Saint-Germain.

With the Premier League Champions in the midst of a hectic run of fixtures, Guardiola was asked whether he would rotate the squad and allow some players to rest in Manchester.

“I don’t know. [On Sunday] I will decide,” he replied.

“I want to assess the team: the knocks, the injuries.

“I want to see the opponent again; then I will make the decision.”

One player who has especially impressed this season is Bernardo Silva.

The Portugal star earned plenty of acclaim once again after Saturday’s 3-1 win over Watford, producing another Man of the Match display with a brilliant brace to bag his fourth and fifth goals in six games.

Guardiola had labelled the midfielder ‘undroppable’ in a recent press conference and once again hailed his ‘incredible’ playmaker.

“Last week I said it: ‘He’s playing at a really good, incredible level,” he continued.

“Now he’s scoring goals to help us win games.

“Hopefully, he can continue in this way. He’s an exceptional player.”

Reflecting on the triumph at Vicarage Road, in which City stormed into a three-goal lead with another dominant display, Guardiola admitted the Champions perhaps should have won by a bigger margin but was pleased to register another crucial three points on the board.

“For the way we play and the chances we created, we could’ve won by more of a margin,” he added.

“The goal difference might be important but maybe one day we’ll score more.

“Frustration is when you play badly – when we play like this, it’s not.

“The players want to score a goal – they want it more than ever.

“Sometimes it doesn’t happen. The important thing is that we won the game and put in a good performance.

“A team like Watford, if you allow them to do well, you suffer but we didn’t do it and played at a high level.”
