Guadeloupe, Guatemala seek victory in Group C | OneFootball

MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with Guadeloupe facing Guatemala in Group C on Tuesday at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

Guatemala and Jamaica are tied with three points each in second and third respectively. Guadeloupe is last in the group with zero points but still has possibilities to qualify for the Knockout Stage.

Both Guadeloupe and Guatemala will seek to better their chances at a spot in the Quarterfinals, with Panama and Jamaica facing off simultaneously.

The encounter will be the third Gold Cup meeting between the two nations. Guatemala leads the series with a win and draw.

Guadeloupe won the stalemate via a penalty shootout in the 2021 Gold Cup Prelims, but Guatemala earned revenge with a 3-2 comeback victory in the 2023 Group Stage.

The match ended 1-1 in regulation time—Matthias Phaeton opened the scoring for Guadeloupe in the 6th minute, while Luis Martínez equalized for Guatemala in the 17th. The second meeting was a thriller, with Guatemala staging a dramatic comeback to win 3-2 on July 4, 2023, in Group C action at Red Bull Arena in Harrison. Andreaw Gravillon (27’) and Ange Plumain (63’) gave Guadeloupe a 2-1 lead, but Guatemala stormed back with a brace from Rubio Méndez (39’, 70’) and a go-ahead goal from Carlos Mejía (75') to complete the turnaround.
