Brighton & Hove Albion came from behind to hand Manchester City their second defeat in a row.

The visitors had plenty of chances to open the scoring earlier with Erling Haaland guilty of missing opportunities he would ordinarily finish.

But the Norwegian did give his side the lead with just over a half hour gone after good footwork from Omar Marmoush freed the striker to place his effort past Bart Verbruggen.

It had for the most part been an even game but with an hour gone Fabian Hürzeler decided to make four changes that would help turn the tide in the Seagulls' favour.

The equaliser came from the penalty spot following a delivery from the right that found Lewis Dunk at the far post. The defender's touch bounced off the raised arm of Matheus Nunes, who may well have protested that he was protecting his head but nonetheless conceded a spot-kick.

James Milner was one of the quartet of substitutes and he slotted his spot-kick into the corner to score his first Premier League penalty since 2019.

The home side rallied after that goal and put pressure on City. James Trafford needed to make an outstanding save to deny Brajan Gruda late on but the other substitute would not be denied.

Just moments after Trafford's super stop, Brighton countered with Gruda keeping his cool before slotting home to make it 2-1 in the 89th minute.

That result sees Pep Guardiola's team go 12th in the table, with three points from their opening three games. Brighton currently sit 10th, behind Nottingham Forest on goals scored.
