Comments before facing Bayern Munich in the Champions League showed Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi proving his assertive side.
Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, note how the Nerazzurri seems to be growing into the job.
Simone Inzaghi has never been a coach who has courted controversy.
The 49-year-old has always made clear his preference to work quietly and without too much media scrutiny.
Inzaghi has always defended his players. But he has not really looked to create a “siege mentality” at Inter.
And that remains the case. The Inter coach has not been a controversy magnet the way Nerazzurri predecessors such as Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho had been.

But over the years that he’s been at Inter Milan, SImone Inzaghi has started to bare his teeth a little more.
In his comments prior to the first leg of a Champions League quarterfinal tie against Bayern Munich, the Nerazzurri coach wasn’t afraid to hit back at his critics.
That is perhaps inevitable after everything Inzaghi has gone through – and all that he’s accomplished – at Inter.
Last season’s Serie A title win was certainly a major vindication for Inzaghi. It took some ammunition away from his critics.
And the former Lazio coach has also guided Inter to a Champions League final already.
With these experiences, Inzaghi seems to have accepted that sometimes he needs to assert himself.
