Barcelona will be making the trip to Andalusia to square off against Sevilla at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium. The two teams are narrowly separated in the Primera Division points table and it is expected to be a high voltage encounter on Saturday evening.

The visitors are of course playing catch-up in the title race to Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid and it is vital for them to return home with all three points in the bag. This is the first of the two Barcelona-Sevilla fixtures scheduled for the coming seven days. The two once again meet at the Camp Nou for their Copa del Rey 2nd Leg Semi-Final clash in which Julen Lopetegui’s side lead by two goals to nil.

Defence

Marc Andre Ter Stegen will be taking charge in goal for the Catalans. The German shot-stopper held onto his first clean-sheet in a while last time around against Elche and will be determined to build on it. Sergino Dest will be starting at the right-back position, replacing Oscar Mingueza who started in midweek. Gerard Pique will be starting at the centre back position along with Samuel Umtiti. Lenglet is expected to sit out for this fixture as well after a spell of disappointing performances recently. The left-back slot will be occupied by Jordi Alba who was amongst the goals against Elche.

Midfield

Frenkie de Jong seems to be in scintillating form since the turn of the year and he will be crucial for Barcelona against the team from Andalucia. The Dutchman made a fiery run in midweek and selflessly squared the ball to Messi. Sergio Busquets will make a return to the starting line-up and replace Miralem Pjanic. The Spaniard would want to keep things crisp and precise in midfield given that Barcelona have not had results go their way in recent matches. Pedri will be starting to the left of Busquets. The youngster has been one of the best performers for Ronald Koeman this season after joining in the summer from Las Palmas. Pedri will have to efficiently put his skills to task in Seville on Saturday evening.

Attack

Ousmane Dembele will be starting on the right-hand side of the attacking line. The Frenchman’s final delivery has been wayward and he will have to get that right on Saturday if Barcelona are to return home with all three points in the bag. Lionel Messi has been seemingly carrying the weight of the entire team on his shoulders and it reflected in the 3-0 victory midweek in which the Argentine got on the scoresheet twice. Messi will be starting in the number nine role and a lot will be expected out of the magical player. Antoine Griezmann is also expected to make his way back in the starting eleven after being left on the bench in the win over Elche.
