Rafinha has agreed to join Grêmio for the rest of this year, according to numerous reports in Brazil.
The veteran right-back left Greek side Olympiakos by mutual consent last month.
He was expected to return to Flamengo – where he enjoyed a hugely successful year in 2019/20 – but talks broke down.
Grêmio then quickly became favourites to land the 35-year-old, and appear to have gotten the deal over the line.
UOL reports that the Porto Alegre outfit will officially unveil the former Bayern Munich defender in the coming days.
Manager Renato Gaúcho was keen to add Rafinha’s experience to the squad, and the right-back will now compete with Vanderson and Victor Ferraz for a starting position.
Flamengo fans may get the chance to see what they are missing on 6 June, with Grêmio scheduled to host the defending champions in the second Matchday of the upcoming Brasileirão season.
