Grêmio stage comeback against inter and take the lead in the Gaucho Championship | OneFootball

Two second half goals from Diego Souza and Ricardinho helped Grêmio complete a 2-1 comeback against Internacional, after going down in the 27th minute through Thiago Galhardo’s strike.

The game started open for both sides, with the host edging their opponent a little bit early on in the match, when Nonato took advantage of Geromel’s mistake. However, the effort was stopped by Brenno.

Few moments later, the dreadlock was broken. Inter took the lead from Thiago Galhardo’s strike, as the midfielder got on to Edenilson’s pass and put the ball into the back of the net.

After the break, however, Grêmio stepped up and started to dominate in possession. They didn’t create much chances but were more effective going forward.

In the 58th minute, Diego Souza equalized from the team’s first attempt on goal, as the midfielder rose higher among the defenders and headed in Lucas Silva’s cross following a freekick.

Two minutes before the end of normal time, Ricardinho scored another header, this time from Léo Pereira’s cross. It was only Grêmio’s second attempt in the second half and saw them seal a major comeback, and guiding the visitors to their ninth consecutive victory in all competitions. As it stands, Grêmio now need just a draw to see them become four-time champion from the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Before the title decider, both teams will return to the field midweek for their respective continental commitments. Inter will take on Paraguay side Olimpia on Thursday in the Libertadores while Grêmio take on Aragua for the Copa Sudamericana also on the same day.
