San Jose Earthquakes have reportedly identified several candidates to take over as permanent head coach.
According to MLS insider Tom Bogert, the club has interviewed at least four individuals, all of whom are external candidates, to fill the vacancy.
Two headline-making names include former USA men’s national team boss Gregg Berhalter and Bruce Arena, the winningest head coach in MLS history.
Giovanni Savarese (formerly of Portland Timbers) and Robin Fraser (2021 MLS Coach of the Year with Colorado) round out the list of external candidates. Current interim boss Ian Russell is also in the mix.
After a tumultuous season, San Jose Earthquakes parted ways with Luchi Gonzalez earlier this summer. The individual who takes over will look to kickstart a new era.
The club sits at the bottom of the Western Conference with the lowest points across both tables (18) and a goal difference of -32.
