Manchester United will play hosts to Chelsea at Old Trafford on Saturday evening looking to return to their winning ways at home. The Red Devils will head into this blockbuster showdown versus the Blues after securing an impressive 2-1 win away at Paris Saint-Germain in midweek which will give them a lot of confidence for this weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will probably set his team up in a 3-4-1-2 formation and could be inclined to name Mason Greenwood in his starting XI if he is passed fit for this game at the Theatre of Dreams. However, Anthony Martial won’t be available for selection due to suspension.

Defence

David De Gea will operate in between the sticks for the Mancunian outfit after producing a brilliant display versus PSG in midweek. Solskjaer could once again opt to play with a back three of Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof in defence. They will be instructed to sit deeper than usual and cope with the threat of Chelsea’s Timo Werner during the contest.

Maguire is a slight doubt for this game. Therefore, Axel Tuanzebe will be on standby just in case he is needed to get on the pitch.

Midfield

Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic will both anchor the midfield for Man United as they focus on winning the battle at the centre of the park. Alex Telles will try to put on an impressive showing down the left flank while Aaron Wan-Bissaka looks to do the same on the other side as the right-sided wide player.

Bruno Fernandes will operate just ahead of them as a free-flowing attacking midfielder. His main responsibility would be to create some inviting goal-scoring opportunities for his teammates up top. Jesse Lingard is a slight concern for this match, but Juan Mata should be available for selection on Solskjaer’s bench.

Attack

Marcus Rashford could partner up with Mason Greenwood up top. The pacey Man United duo will look to expose the opposing defence’s weaknesses on the counter. Rashford will fancy his chances of finding the back of the net this weekend following his midweek heroics versus PSG which will keep him in high spirits.

Edinson Cavani is in contention to get a spot on the bench which will excite the Red Devils supporters.
