Benjamin Pavard is responsible for scoring one of the most memorable goals in the World Cup this century.
The Frenchman is a defender but has exceptional technical ability.
That was on full show during France’s last-16 match against Argentina at the 2018 World Cup.
The ball fell to Pavard just outside the box and he struck a wonderful volley which curled majestically into the top corner.
It was his first goal for France and what a way to get it.
It’s one of the most aesthetically pleasing goals ever and, two years prior to that strike, Pavard pulled one of the most aesthetically pleasing assists ever.
On October 3, 2016, Pavard featured for Stuttgart as they crushed Greuther Furth 4-0 in the 2.Bundesliga.
Stuttgart took the lead through Carlos Mane, but the goal was all about the brilliance of Pavard’s pass.
The Frenchman, just 20 years old at the time, picked up the ball in defence.
He looked up, saw the run of Mane, and picked him out with the most beautiful passes which lasered across the ground and perfectly to his teammate.
Mane then did the pass justice as he finished into the net while 1 vs 1 with the goalkeeper.

According to Transfermarkt, Pavard has only scored seven goals and recorded 13 assists during his entire career.
Despite those low numbers, his goal against Argentina and his assist for Stuttgart are among the best ever produced in the 21st century.
Now 26, Pavard is currently at Bayern Munich, having joined the club in 2019.
Pavard recently helped the Bavarian giants to their 10th straight Bundesliga title.
