Tottenham tipped to move for Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin

Speaking to Football Insider (h/t Sunderland Echo), former Premier League footballer Kevin Phillips has backed Tottenham to sign Allan Saint-Maximin from Newcastle United in the summer.

Saint-Maximin arrived at Newcastle United in the summer of 2019 from OGC Nice and has quickly gone on to become one of their best players due to his direct running, pace and control on the ball. The winger had a decent debut season during which he managed four goals and seven assists from 30 games in all competitions. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The current season has been a difficult one for Saint-Maximin as he had to face a lengthy spell out on the sidelines after contracting the coronavirus. However, since returning to action, he has been a positive influence for Steve Bruce’s side, helping them pull away from the drop zone. His performance against reigning champions Liverpool last month was a treat to the eyes.

Till date, Saint-Maximin has managed three goals and five assists from 21 games in the Premier League this term. Despite those not being exceptional numbers, his impact is there for everyone to see.

And, Phillips is of the opinion that a number of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur could launch a move for the 24-year-old in the summer. (h/t Sunderland Echo)
