Guadalajara U14 had a great Group Stage in the Liga MX Spring 2025 Basic Forces Tournament, but lost to Tigres in a penalty shootout in the Round of 16 this Tuesday at the Mexican Soccer Federation's facilities.
After qualifying as the leader of Group 4 with 7 points, the result of 2 wins and 1 draw, the Cantera Rojiblanca faced Los Regios in the first round of the Final Phase. The match was an uphill struggle for the team from Guadalajara, as the Monterrey-based team scored at minute 3, through Henry Godínez, and at minute 49, thanks to Matías Elizondo.
However, towards the end of the match, the youthful Rebaño came from behind and in four minutes tied things up through Noé Salazar at 56' and 60'. The equalizer forced a penalty kick shootout, which ended on the northern side, 4-5, and thus ended the Rojib|lanca's participation in the competition.
It is worth noting that the Jalisco team was one of the best defenses in the tournament with only 1 goal conceded in 3 Regular Phase matches, in addition to being in fourth place in the overall standings.
