Jack Grealish’s love of a night out has generated plenty of tawdry headlines since his big-money move to Manchester City.
His latest tour of drinking establishments in northern England sparked plenty of debate, much of which suggested he is throwing his career away.
However, given that Manchester City have no midweek game, should Grealish be criticised for enjoying some downtime?
Former players, journalists and fans are among the people who have had plenty to say about Grealish’s latest expedition.
Before social media arrived on the scene, his decision to have a night out would not have caused a ripple.
The reality of his little adventure is that he was spending time with friends and decided to mingle with people in a social club.
Grealish happily posed for photographs, chatted with the locals and put money behind the bar. He sounds like a decent fella.
Plenty of modern-day players forget their roots. We should be grateful that Grealish has remained grounded despite his wealth.
A fresh start at another club would probably be a good idea for Grealish, but let’s dispense with the faux outrage about his behaviour.
Bayern Munich versus Bayer Leverkusen could be tasty in the Champions League tonight.
