Jack Grealish says City are excited and eager to embrace a potentially defining final day of the Premier League season when we play host to Aston Villa on Sunday.

Ahead of Liverpool’s visit to Southampton on Tuesday night, the mathematics could not be clearer.

A victory over Steven Gerrard’s visitors would ensure Pep Guardiola’s side lift the title for a second successive season - and fourth time in five years - irrespective of what Liverpool do both at the St Mary’s Stadium and in their final game at home to Wolves.

By quirk of fate, Sunday’s Etihad finale will see Grealish lock horns with the Aston Villa side he served with such huge distinction before joining City last summer.

But rather than be distracted by talk of reunions, the England international says he and his City colleagues are firmly focused on the important task in hand.

“It is going to be a big day for this city and for this football club,” declared Grealish who was on the mark in Sunday's enthralling 2-2 draw at West Ham.

“Of course, we are going to be confident. We have got a great record at the Etihad this year and we have scored a lot of goals, so it is down to us.

“We have to just try and get the three points on the last day.

“It is not about me [playing Villa] or the opposition, it is about the team and the club.

“That is what I have got in my head.

“Hopefully we can go and lift the trophy.

"All we can do is go out there and try to get three points so we can get our hands on the trophy.

“Of course, it will be a nice occasion for me, but it is about the team and we have a job to go out there and get three points.

“I am looking forward to it and I cannot wait.”
