They desperately needed to pick up all three points and they did just that as they prevailed 4-2.

The game was locked at 2-2 going into stoppage-time.

But late goals from Emiliano Martinez (own-goal) and Gabriel Martinelli saw them pick up a vital three points.

Granit Xhaka charged across pitch to join in celebrations for Martinez's own-goal

Arsenal's players went wild celebrating Martinez's own-goal.

Their players ran to the corner where the away fans were congregated and celebrated in front of them.

Granit Xhaka was not on the pitch when Arsenal took the lead for the first time at Villa Park.

The Swiss midfielder was subbed off in the 78th minute - some 15 minutes before Martinez's own-goal.

But he was determined to not miss out on the celebrations.

Pitchside footage shows Xhaka in the thick of the celebrations. The 30-year-old had charged from the bench and across the pitch to get involved.

It's unclear, but Xhaka may have been booked for his actions.

The referee for the match, Simon Hooper, could be seen going into his pocket and walking in the direction of Xhaka as he made his way back to the bench.

If he was indeed booked, he would not have cared one bit.

Oleksandr Zinchenko spoke to BT Sport after the match and he was full of praise for his side.

"From this game I would like to say two things," Zinchenko told BT Sport afterwards, per BBC. "First, we took an unbelievable lesson for all of us that we need to believe until the very end.

"Like I said in the past, this group has such amazing people, can achieve everything they want if we are going to keep fighting and keep believing. The reaction from all of us in the second half is a perfect way to go.

"We would like to go in the dressing room as soon as possible but there are still a lot of games to play and we just need to keep going, keep fighting and keep believing we can do everything."
