Granada relegated from La Liga before Real Madrid clash | OneFootball

The 2nd casualty of the La Liga campaign has on Saturday been made official.

This comes amid confirmation that Granada can no longer mathematically escape the relegation zone in the Spanish top-flight.

The Nazaríes, of course, have endured a campaign to forget to date, managing wins in just four of their 34 outings.

José Ramón Sandoval’s troops, in turn, headed into the latest round of fixtures in the knowledge that their slim survival hopes no longer sat in their own hands.

Upon Mallorca emerging victorious over Las Palmas on Saturday afternoon, Granada’s return to the 2nd tier was therefore made official.

The Andalusian outfit join Almería as the 2nd club to have been relegated from La Liga in 2023/24.

As if to add insult to injury, Granada will return to the pitch against recently-crowned champions Real Madrid later this evening, expected to provide a guard of honour to Carlo Ancelotti’s squad ahead of kick-off at Los Cármenes.
