Former Chelsea manager Graham Potter has been impressed with one current player who he believes has progressed since he was in charge.
Potter has been out of work for sometime now since being sacked as head coach of Chelsea, and things just did not go right at all for him at the club.
He had a number of players who were perhaps under-performing for him at the time, or perhaps it was more that he could not get a tune out of them, or what is more likely, a bit of both.
Potter managed Marc Cucurella at Brighton, and he then had him at Chelsea. The left back went through a bit of an up and down run of form. He was great for Potter at Brighton, but for Potter at Chelsea, he wasn’t so good and turned into a bit of a liability. Chelsea fans love him now, but at that point they were turning on him.

The Spanish international has got better since the Euros in the summer, according to Potter.
He said to Sky Sports: “He just came into the team at Brighton, he solved some problems for us in terms of balance on that left side, but his personality is infectious. He is a real good character around the team, he has got fantastic intensity.
“Not many players can go one-to-one with the likes of Saka and deal with him physically and Marc does that. I think he has progressed his game. The Euros was great for him.
“He is not the final third necessarily player, so how they have found a role for him at Chelsea has been really good. Left of a three sometimes in build-up, sometimes in central midfield.
“He is better suited to that than maybe attacking the backline. All-round person – he is amazing.”
