Former Östersund and Swansea boss Graham Potter has been confirmed as the new coach of Brighton on a four-year contract.

The 44-year-old was quickly placed as the favourite to take over from Chris Hughton when it was announced that the ex-Tottenham was getting sacked just a day after the Premier League season was over.

And those stories have proved correct with Potter being announced as the Brighton manager on Wednesday evening.

Potter began his coaching career in Sweden where he made headlines around Europe whilst taking lowly Östersund to the Europa League.

His three-year stint in Scandinavia ended last summer when he took over at Swansea, and despite a turbulent time off the pitch, Potter guided the Swans to safety while bringing on exciting youngsters like Daniel James.

That has been enough for the south coast club to make a move, and have acted quickly in landing what is seen as one of the most progressive coaches in the game.

Brighton finished last season in 17th place and avoided relegation with just two games of the season to go.
