Grace Geyoro leaves France training in tears with suspected injury ahead of Euro 2022
90min
PSG captain Grace Geyoro left training in tears on Tuesday after sustaining a knee injury just two-and-a-half weeks before France's opening group match of Euro 2022.
Geyoro is the most capped midfielder in France's tournament squad with 49 appearances to her name since making her senior national team debut in 2017, and has already represented her country at two major tournaments in recent years.
France kick off their Euro 2022 campaign against Italy at the New York Stadium in Rotherham on 10 July, before facing Belgium and Iceland in their second and third group fixtures.
RMC Sport report that Geyoro was forced to cut short her training session on Tuesday after falling to the ground following an innocuous challenge. She suffered an injury to her left knee, and limped off the field in tears with the assistance of the France medical staff.
France boss Corinne Deacon named her final 23-player squad for Euro 2022 in May - which included the controversial exclusion of Lyon midfielder Amandine Henry - but changes can be made to this in the result of injury or illness up until the tournament's opening game on 6 July.
Deacon has contacted 10, unnamed players as reserves for Euro 2022, and one will be able to be called up should Geyoro's injury prove serious enough to rule her out of the tournament.
Les Bleues have two more friendlies before their Euro 2022 campaign gets underway, taking on Cameroon on 25 June and Vietnam on 1 July.
