Grace Clinton: “Everton will be a tough side to face” | OneFootball

We are back on the road in the Barclays Women’s Super League as we travel to Everton on Saturday afternoon (12pm UK) and Grace Clinton is expecting a tough test against her former club.

Our trip to Walton Hall Park will be our final away game in the Barclays Women’s Super League this season, with only two home games to follow in the league – Chelsea at Brisbane Road on Wednesday 15 May and then West Ham United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 18 May (tickets available now!) - before the curtains come down on the 2023/24 campaign.

The Toffees head into this weekend’s clash on the back of picking up their first-ever point against Arsenal in the previous outing in the league as 16-year-old Isabella Hobson came off the bench to net the equaliser in injury time to secure a 1-1 draw.

Grace began her career at Everton, rising through their youth ranks before making her senior debut for the club in October, 2020, and, although the midfielder is looking forward to a return to Merseyside, she is focused on continuing a strong finish to the season.

“It’s always nice to go back there, see some familiar faces, but, obviously, the complete focus is on the game,” the 21-year-old said.

“They are a really physical, strong side,” she added. “They have got better since the start of the season and are doing well now so they will be a tough side to face, but we just need to stick to our game plan.

“We can still be pushing the teams above us, the style of football we play and how we have been performing has been fantastic, but we just want to keep picking up as many points as possible in the remaining games in the league.”

The England international, who has found the back of the net on five occasions so far this season, also praised the character within the team after coming from behind to pick up a point against Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend.

“It shows the character within the team, we have been doing it all season,” Grace added. “When we do concede, we all believe in ourselves and, as a team, we are really good at that. We keep fighting until the end and that is one thing about this team, we have great character.

“Obviously, we don’t want to be conceding or be in that position in the first place, but when we have been put into that scenario, we have done really well.”
