The two sides are fierce rivals and it didn’t take long until chaos broke loose.

The game kicked off and commenced for 19 minutes before being stopped due to crowd trouble.

According to 101greatgoals, a flare directed into the home seating by a member of the Altay contingent in attendance struck a Goztepe supporter in the face.

Two others were also injured in the incident.

Ambulances made their way onto the pitch so those that were harmed could be taken to hospital.

A number of Altay players, including goalkeeper Ozan Evrim Özenç, stood around the ambulance as those injured were being treated.

Ozenc, who was standing around and not doing anything inflammatory, was then attacked in more disgusting scenes.

A Goztepe fan inside the stadium invaded the pitch, picked up the corner flag, ran across the pitch and then smashed Ozenc around the head with it.

It was a truly shocking moment and you can watch it below…

According to Metro, the individual who attacked Ozenc has been arrested by police and taken into custody.

They also add that Ozenc was taken to hospital for treatment after suffering a head injury.

We wish the 29-year-old, as well as the fans that were injured, all the best and a speedy recovery.

Game to be played at a later date

Following the attack on Ozenc and the crowd trouble, the players made their way into the changing room and the game was called off.

The match will now be played at a later date.

The two sides are both midtable and are separated by just a single point.

Altay are currently 10th having amassed 19 points from their opening 15 games to start the season.

Goztepe are one point back in 12th, although they do have a game-in-hand over their rivals.

Hopefully these disgusting scenes aren’t repeated when they meet later on in the season.
