Gotham FC vs San Diego Wave FC: How to watch, time, and more of Broadway Night | OneFootball

So far in 2025, NJ/NY Gotham FC has been streaky.  In the first three games, they were 0-1-2 and scored one goal, in the next four, they were 3-1-0 and scored 11 goals, and in the last two matches, they are 0-1-1 with no goals scored.  After losing to Racing Louisville FC last Friday, the Bats will try to rebound this Friday with a win against San Diego Wave FC.  The team also wants to be consistent and not streaky, so winning at home would help.

In fact, the San Diego game will be the final NWSL game of May, and Gotham’s next two will be in the CONCACAF W Champions Cup, so the pressure to win is even greater.  The NJ/NY side can clearly play impressively and secure three points against tougher opponents.  All of their wins have seen them dominate most of the play and score three or more goals.

However, against the Wave, the Bats have only won once since the California team joined the NWSL and began play in 2022.  Currently, Gotham has a 1-5-1 record against them.  Things did look better in 2024, though, for they went 1-1-1.  But can they win a second game?  It all depends on which team shows up.  If it is the one who beat Angel City FC 4-0, then they could easily get the job done.  If it is the one who played last week in Louisville, then it is questionable.  The ladies played well during some portions of the match, but failed to produce that clinical finish.

Additionally, the roster cannot rely on Esther González.  She has scored seven of the team’s 12 goals so far, which is fantastic.  But she has not scored in the last two games, and neither has anyone else.  To beat San Diego, Gotham FC’s other attackers must step up and score.

Friday is Broadway Night!  Fans can celebrate the shows that have and continue to be at the iconic theatres of Broadway.  Ideally, songs from the shows will be played throughout, and maybe some theatre legends who are not in the middle of a show will attend the match.
