Gotham FC vs Racing Louisville FC: How to watch, time, more as Bats try to win again | OneFootball

After eight matches, NJ/NY Gotham FC is in fourth place in the NWSL standings as they enter this weekend full of questions.  The Bats have had some incredible wins, some poor losses, and draws where they could have been better.  Therefore, can Gotham FC compete for the Shield?  Or will this season be full of ups and downs, but they will still compete for a spot at the top of the table?  They can try to answer this when they face Racing Louisville FC.

Last season, the two teams shared the points in the Kentucky match.  Notably, the 1-1 draw came earlier in the season, before the Gotham players found themselves as a team.  So, could they steal all three points this time around?  So far, the Bats have had some impressive wins on the road, including the 4-0 thrashing of Angel City FC.

In addition, Racing is in 11th place entering the fixture.  However, this must be taken with a grain of salt.  Both sides are separated by only four points.  The difference is that the home team’s wins all came against teams that are below them in the table: the Houston Dash and Chicago Stars FC.  Of course, the Bats shared the points with those teams.

What Gotham FC needs is to capture the magic from their three wins.  It would be great for Esther González to score again, but other players should also step up.  Ideally, someone like Ella Stevens will finally find the back of the net.

Final Notes

The fixture against Racing Louisville and next week’s against San Diego Wave FC are both on Fridays.  As such, it would be ideal for Gotham FC to win and set the tone for the two weekends.  Otherwise, any dropped points could see them fall down the table as the other NWSL games are played.  It all depends on which version of the Bats show up.
