HARRISON, N.J. – NJ/NY Gotham FC and CF Monterrey Femenil played to a nil-nil draw in Group A in the 2024/25 Concacaf Champions Cup on Thursday at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey, USA.
Gotham striker Esther Gonzalez had the first attempt for the home side in the 8’, but was denied by Rayadas goalkeeper Pamela Tajonar.
Jenna Nighswonger had a free kick in the 16’, deflected by the defensive wall and resulting in a corner kick for the hosts.
Lucia Garcia carried the ball to the area in the 19’ and tried to connect with Marcela Restrepo but the Rayadas duo could not combine for the go-ahead goal.
The Mexican club began the second half on the offensive, earning a corner kick in the 50’ and the 52’, but was unable to finish on either ocassion.
Monterrey captain Rebeca Bernal tried a long kick in the 53’ but was unable to score the first goal of the night.
Gotham goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger stopped an effort from Lucia Garcia in the box in the 56’ as Rayadas continued to go for the lead on the road.
Cece Kizer had an attempt for Gotham in the 76’ but was unsuccessful as the match stayed level.
Karol Bernal had one of the last chances of the game in the 83’ when attempting a shot from outside the box, but her effort went wide off the post.
Rose Lavelle had an attempt outside the box in the 87’ but could not break the deadlock as the game ended nil-nil.
Gotham will travel to Frazsiers Whip on October 2 for its next encounter at the National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica. The team will return home for its final match of the group stage against Tigres UANL Femenil on October 16.
Rayadas will play its fourth and final group stage match on October 17 against LD Alajuelense at Estadio BBVA in Monterrey, Mexico.
