Gotham FC news roundup: McCall Zerboni leaves and more

McCall Zerboni departs Gotham FC

On Thursday, Gotham FC announced McCall Zerboni is departing the club after five seasons. The captain made about 94 NWSL appearances for the Bats and scored six goals. She lost out on some playing time due to her ACL injury in 2023 and played fewer minutes when she returned this past June against Angel City FC.

Per the club, Zerboni is leaving to "to pursue other opportunities." It is unknown whether Gotham wanted her to return, but it is clear that her minutes would have continued to be limited this upcoming season. The NWSL journeywoman is also towards the end of her playing career since she is 38 years old.

As such, it is possible the midfielder might try to sign with a California team so she can be closer to home. Regardless of where she ends up, fans will always appreciate what Zerboni did for Gotham FC. Injury might have kept her out of the NWSL Playoffs in 2023, but she was a major part of the run to the NWSL Championship.

Tierna Davidson is married!

It is wedding season for the NWSL and USWNT players, and Tierna Davidson is the latest to get married. The Gotham defender posted on Instagram a picture of her and her new wife in a wedding dress and suit.

Davidson captioned the photo of how she is "Running into 2025 with my wife". One can assume she and her partner, Alison Jahansouz, were married around New Year's Eve. It is unknown whether any Gotham FC, USWNT, or any other former teammates of Davidson were in attendance. Other details are also unknown. Congratulations are in order to the happy couple.
