Gary Neville takes aim at five Manchester United players including Cristiano Ronaldo in scathing rant after Leicester City defeat

Speaking to Sky Sports (h/t The Express), Manchester United legend Gary Neville pinpoints Jadon SanchoPaul PogbaBruno FernandesMason Greenwood, and Cristiano Ronaldo as problems in Leicester City defeat.

The Old Trafford outfit suffered their first away defeat in the Premier League over a year after Brendan Rodgers and co. picked them apart in a 4-2 victory. There have been some questions over the performances of the Red Devils recently, and their problems were on display again this weekend.

While Leicester pressed from the front with Jamie Vardy, none of United’s, including Ronaldo, ever made an effort to get the ball off the opposition defender. The club have also often relied on individual brilliance, which was clear after Greenwood’s wonder goal.

Club legend Gary Neville has now called out five players for not working hard enough in the defeat. Neville told Sky Sports (h/t The Metro):

“They got pulled apart by Everton, pulled apart by Villa, pulled apart by Villarreal, and we’ve seen the team that’s been picked today with Greenwood, Sancho, Ronaldo, Pogba and Fernandes in, five of them, I wouldn’t want to be a defender in that team.“I love them as players but having them all in the same team, not enough workhorses…Manchester United at this moment in time are imbalanced, and the performances are now getting what they deserve in terms of results, and it needs to change.”

With both Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes pushing forward, Nemanja Matic was the singular defensive midfielder on the day– something that might not be acceptable at this level of the game.

This is the third consecutive week the club have dropped points in the league and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must now find the right balance that can put any team to bed.
