Only a year after his departure, Robin Gosens could soon find himself back in Serie A but his possible return depends on what happens to Leicester City loanee Victor Kristiansen at Bologna.
Gosens emerged as an exciting left wing back during his five-year spell under Gian Piero Gasperini at Atalanta, earning a €27m move to Inter in January 2022. His time with the Nerazzurri was blighted by injuries, limiting him to just 2000 minutes of action across his 18 months at the club.
Inter sold the German wing back to Union Berlin last summer in a deal worth around €13m, giving him the chance to rediscover his form in the Bundesliga. This term, he’s netted seven goals and provided one assist in 30 appearances across all competitions.
Page 20 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Bologna are interested in the idea of picking up Gosens in the summer, should they secure a spot in the Champions League. Technical director Giovanni Sartori brought the German to Atalanta back in 2017 and is keen to work with him again.
Much depends on what happens to Kristiansen, however. The 21-year-old Dane is currently on loan from Leicester City and can be signed with the activation of his €14m buy option.
