Timothy Chandler speaks about the special team spirit at Eintracht, his role in the side, pre-season training and the travelling Eagles fans.

Timothy Chandler on...

…the current squad: “We’ve added a lot of quality, speed and goalscoring prowess. Above all [the new players] have great character, which is always very important to us. They fit our team perfectly and have settled in even further this week. We got to know each other better, which is one of the purposes of the training camp. They’ll help us this season, we’re going to see that.”

…his role: “I talk a lot with the lads, tell them not to be shy and to speak openly with us. If they have any questions they can ask them – they can always talk to us about anything. For me, it’s important to be fit and not in any pain. I’ve taken part in every training session so far and been on the pitch for every possible minute. In the end though, it’s the coach who decides [who plays]. I’m versatile, can play on the left or right and even in central defence. I hope I’ll get my playing time.”

…the training schedule: “Football has developed in a way that allows you to do a lot of exercises with the ball. Us players were given our plans for the summer and prepared accordingly by going on runs. The lads were all fit during the performance tests, so we can already do a lot of work with the ball and work on our strengths and capabilities that way.”

…team spirit: “The fact that the dressing room is spot on is half the battle already. We get along very well and talk about things when we have to. It’s been perfect here for years. We’ve worked hard for it and it serves as the foundation for a good season.”

…travelling fans: “It’s nice to see people spend their holidays with us in Windischgarsten and watch us train twice a day. There are other ways to spend your time here, which makes us even happier to see the fans. We’re always available for autographs and photos after training.”
