Toronto FC hosted Inter Miami in their final home match of the season and the visitors walked away with all three points in a 1-0 win.

While Toronto FC’s playoff hopes are dead and buried, Inter Miami had to dig deep if they wanted to walk away with more than one point as their post-season push continues.

And despite a pitch full of stars in Lorenzo Isigne, Federico Bernardeschi, Gonzalo Higuaín and Alejandro Pozuelo, the action was fairly quiet at BMO Field.

Inter Miami were in control across 90 minutes with more possession as Higuaín and Jean Mota came close to breaking the deadlock while Bernardeschi and Isigne fell short for the hosts.

One of the best attempts came at the hands of the visitors in the final 15 minutes when a through ball was perfectly placed in front of Ariel Lassiter.

Goalkeerp Quentin Westberg, however, saved the effort before Higuain’s header was cleared by Richie Laryea.

And despite 25 shots between the two sides it looked as though the points would be shared.

That was until Higuaín did what he does best and scored at the death to hand Inter Miami’s playoff hopes a huge boost.

The 1-0 win means Inter Miami occupy a playoff spot in seventh while TFC are 13th.
