Three touches, four seconds. And Barcelona were one goal up and on their way to a 5-0 Clásico win.
Described as the ‘cola de vaca’, which translates as ‘cow tail’, dribble, Romário’s opener in against Real Madrid in 1993 is one of the greatest goals in Barcelona history.
The electric Brazilian (who ended up with a hat-trick) controlled the ball. Then, in one swift movement, swivelled. A 180 degree turn saw the forward drag the ball with him, leaving Spanish international Rafael Alkorta stunned.
Through on goal, the rest was elementary for a striker of Romário’s talents.
Sometimes the actual goal, the finish itself, actually is the easy part. And it’s Romário’s turn here, not his outside-of-the-foot poke, that deservedly went down in history.
